Our aims

AHAS was established in 1990 by a number of London local authority housing advice services and since that date has expanded its membership to voluntary sector agencies.  It today serves a number of different functions but the aims of AHAS have remained the same:

  • The promotion and understanding of local authority and voluntary sector housing advice services and housing advice in general
  • To encourage and promote good practice in housing advice services
  • To raise awareness of private sector housing issues

Policy work

With the breadth and knowledge of its members, AHAS believes it is in an informed position to comment on housing issues and we regularly respond on behalf of our members to Government consultations on issues that affect private sector housing.

For previous responses, go to our Documents archive.

Joint Chair Jon Dalton (LB Greenwich)
